Seeking Inspiration continues...

Hello again. This is part two in a small series of posts about the inspiration for our own homes that can be garnered from the 2012 HGTV Dream Home. If you missed the first part, you can catch it here.

On to what I consider the heart of nearly every home. I have a big ol' island like this one. I love it! What I need is pendant lights above it. I like the clean lines of these drum shades. They don't pretend to be anything but what they are. They provide stylish light in a utilitarian space.

Every kitchen could use a little organizational help. Especially mine. No matter how many ways I organize it, the most used items end up spread out all over the place. A tray like this would definitely help corral those essentials and keep them close at hand, yet look pretty. I definitely need to do this.

You know, its kind of funny...My dining area is somewhat like this. On a smaller scale, yet similar. Three windows across and one window wide, positioned at the end of the island. Which makes me wonder?

Could I have Mr Shawn build me a couple of pedestals for the corners? Would they fit?

Now that we've flipped through the highlights of the comfortable public spaces, I want to take a look at the work horses. This mudroom/transitional space is set up just as would be needed by an active family like mine. The execution is a little too industrial for my taste, but the idea is sound. The idea is one that we are in the process of instituting in our home. I will share soon...

Where did they hide the washer and dryer? I wish I had a laundry room that didn't require one... Good luck on that with two teen aged girls in the house. Ha! I love the long uninterrupted counter space though. In my world it would be covered in laundry baskets waiting for someone to go put the clean laundry away. You see...I don't mind doing laundry. I HATE putting it away. Ugh!!! Please tell me I'm not the only one.

Found 'em! Oh how I wish I had one set of these, but two? That would make my day.

Please ignore the large suv. Look past it at the actual garage. Who needs lockers in their garage? Oh wait, I do! As long as they were big enough to hold skis and kayak paddles...But seriously, candelabra style chandeliers? Ha hahahaha!

I couldn't help but laugh. See you tomorrow as we continue on.
